Opportunities for Community
Parish Ministries
Adult Education
This class meets every Sunday morning at 9:10 a.m. in our meeting room in our Parish Hall.
All receive and read the Lessons, Psalm and the Gospel for the coming Sunday in church. We are led by Fr. Dan Riddick who encourages our learning by having us read and ponder what we “hear” in the readings. We come together to share our thoughts and learn from our readings for Sunday.
Visiting Angels
Mission Statement: It is our desire as Trinity Episcopal Church volunteers to extend a loving hand to those who may be suffering in
body or spirit and turn their sorrow into joy. We volunteer at Franklin
Health and Rehab. The residents are chosen by the Activity Director.
Each volunteer visits their resident one hour a week. The mission was established May 2025.
Lenten Series
This is a weekly program in Lent, consisting of Compline, a meal and a program chosen by the Vestry to provide learning and observing a Holy Lent.
Daughters of the King
This is a praying order of women in the Episcopal church. The chapter is Mary Magdalene and the members take a vow of prayer, service and evangelism. They meet monthly, the second Sunday of each month, for prayers for our parish and those in need of prayer. Their service projects to enhance the work for the church, those in need and to spread Christ’s Kingdom through all we serve and pray for.
Outreach Committee
Trinity has an Outreach Committee which chooses organizations that address community needs and sends some financial support to them. The money for these gifts comes from the church’s annual budget, contributions at quarterly luncheons, and funds given by parishioners for designated groups.
Most of our chosen recipients serve the people of Franklin County. Some examples are the Free Clinic, Helping Hands, and local food pantries. We also usually donate to organizations with ties to our church such as the Boys Home in Covington. Trinity has responded to natural disasters like hurricanes or floods and man made disasters such as refugees needing support by sending outreach money. We welcome anyone interested in helping and are willing to consider any organizations that parishioners believe need assistance.
Church Activities
Men's Breakfast
Men from Trinity Episcopal meet at The Hub Restaurant on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 8:30. It is a social time to discuss sports, military service, various personal interests, as well as trying to solve world problems (Which has not been accomplished at this point). It’s a fun time for all involved.
Men of Trinity: MOT
The men host an annual Mother’s Day coffee hour following the worship service.
Trinity Ladies Connecting: TLC
The women of Trinity meet on the second Friday of each month to share a meal at a chosen restaurant close by. They have someone volunteer ahead of time to bring a devotion to share and discuss together over lunch.
Quarterly Potluck Luncheon
Outreach offers a potluck luncheon for all following our worship service. The dates are announced quarterly through the newsletter we all receive. A basket is provided for donations to Outreach.
Mahjongg Group
This group meets each Thursday afternoon at 1:00p.m. to play several rounds of Mahjongg.
Baptism
Holy Baptism is the sacrament through which we are welcomed into God’s family and the life of the Church. Through water and the Holy Spirit, people of any age are marked as Christ’s own forever and begin a lifelong journey of faith grounded in God’s unbreakable love.
Church Activities
Coffee Hour is each Sunday following worship service in our Parish Hall.
Trinity supports many community events:
- Passing out hot cocoa during the annual Christmas Parade in Rocky Mount.
- Ringing bells at Kroger for the Salvation Army holiday kettle drive
